Liza Owen has already shown her soulful pop abilities through performances with Jonas Blue and recognition from Zane Lowe, but it is her newest release, ‘Polite’, that will be turning heads soon enough. Rather than the simple, crowd pleasing pop we may be used to, this track opens with a slow string arrangement, complexly juxtaposing Owen’s fast British-Cambodian vocal delivery and quiet but quick hi-hats. It soon builds into an exceptional track full of fuzzy bass synths, a myriad of percussion and those ever-present, uniquely produced string sounds. -Dan Peeke
